Default Distance from TN to NC

My husband may be having a job transfer to TN; Our son lives between Statesville and Charlotte. IS Johnson City closet to the NC border ? I dont have a map I can look at to see for myself. Sorry..

Thanks for the information..

Hello,
I am not exactly sure the time between Johnson City and Statesville but I have seen the signs for it while in Asheville so I am assuming it is close.
I drive from North Johnson City to west Asheville quite often. It takes me an hour and a half. I would say from down town JC to down town Asheville would be right at about an hours drive.
Hope that helps.

Thank you
Is it easier to go to Asheville and into Charlotte , Statesville that way? We are coming down the end of September to visit and check things out.

Newlife5; You have a couple of driving options and both will take about 2hr 45min from Johnson City. Per mapquest, taking Rts 321/421/I-77 is about 132 miles. Slightly longer would be I-26 to Asheville then I-40 to Statesville and this is about 162 miles. For a first trip I wold recommend the interstate routes.
