Default Pictures of Jonesborough

I finally had some time today and stopped in downtown Jonesborough, the states oldest town, and took some better pictures. Now I don't know why, but my cameras date is wrong. I noticed this when uploading them that they do not have todays date, but I did take them today 8/14/07. Enjoy!

This is the main intersection off of 11E where you have to turn off the main road to drive into town.

Beautiful pictures, mb! I've actually not been downtown in a while but it's just as I remember it, I guess it's not changed for a few years.

Jonesborough has turned into one of my weekend hangouts. Music on the Square on Friday nights, contra dances twice a month, and good restaurants all the time. Nice photos.

You just had to put in the Jonesborough Pancake House and Dogwood Lane, didn't you? I woulda been fine with those pictures if they hadn't made me HUNGRY! I'm an 8 hour drive from there, but it's tempting to hop in the car and be there for breakfast. I blame it on the baby. I'm hungry all the time and Dogwood Lane has a fantastic Roast Beef Dip sandwich. Yum!

MBMOUSE!!! I WAS THERE!! Hubby and I were sitting in the ice cream/sandwich shop (owned by Trish) at about 1:30 that day! Gosh,
if we'd only known!

We're in Michigan right now, but did spend 4 days in Tennessee on the way up. By reading all the city-data posts and what research I'd done, I had my mind made up that we were probably going to end up in either Jonesborough or Gray. Close enough to JC without being right in the city. Welllll, after touring both hubby and I actually liked Kingsport better. JC, Gray area was fine, but right now I'm ALL about the mountain view. Maybe that's because Florida is so flat and it's the senery of Tennessee that holds such an attraction. (That and the friendly people!) I think we need to spend more time there, but Kingsport seemed to have more magnificent views. We also liked the Oak Ridge/Clinton area.

Then on our way north to Michigan up I-75 the LaFollette area looked beautiful, but we didn't have time to stop. Anyhow, I just thought it was cool that we may have passed each other in Jonesborough and not even known it! Is it for closings that you travel to all these towns?

How funny! LOL,
I was the lady with the yellow skirt and black top taking pictures of everything in town hahahahaha. You should have told me you were in town, I'd loved to have met ya. The appraiser that I use a lot is in Jonesborough, I was picking up something from her and meeting with a Realtor that day. Yes, sometimes it is for closings that I travel or to meet with clients, pick up paper work etc. All kinds of reasons to go to the different towns/cities, sometimes just to go there is all the reason we need hahahahha.
Kingsport is a nice town, that is actually where my office is so I am there a lot. The downtown and waterfront revitalization is really getting under way. If you like Kingsport and the views, have you checked out the downs down 11w just outside of Kingsport? Such as Mount Carmel, Church Hill and Surgoinsville? They have some of the most beautiful views and the Holston River is right there. Most folks get turned off by Eastman in Kingsport, says it smells...I really don't smell it but every once in a great while and that is when I am driving right by it LOL!
Well, the next time you are in town, tell me first silly!

I should have told you! Darn!

I had read about the "funny smell" in Kingsport so I was looking for it, so to speak. I didn't smell anything, although on another day maybe I would. I know that the 4 days we spent in TN were the days they were tying and breaking records. Here we thought that once we got there and up in the mountains it would be cooler than Florida. NOT! We played golf at the course in Pigeon Forge on Wednesday and I thought I'd die! For one thing,
I'm not used to having to walk up and down hills. I told hubby that when we move there we can leave the treadmill in Florida.

We did not specifically check out those other towns you mentioned, but we're going to have to make another trip cause this one wasn't long enough. I'd love to come back this fall and see the color. When does it start and when is it usually at its peak?

About the leaves changing, it is different every year. This year with it being so dry for so long, I don't think there is going to be near the normal colors if much of any at all
If it does show a color change I would say the beginning of October.
Here are some pictures of the Mount Carmel, Church Hill area, oh and if you like golf there are a few golf courses, Medowview comes to mind.

Hello.
I'm living here,(Kingsport,TN.) and I can tell you ALL ABOUT THE SMELL !!!

You see,Kingsport is home to EASTMAN CHEMICAL co. and it all depends on "which way the wind is blowing" as to if you will smell it or not.
As a former resident of the greater metro Detroit area...let me assure you that I know what smells, and what dont...and Kingsport really does smell bad,( and I mean BAD! ) at times. There are days when I leave for work in the early am,and the smell will take your breath away before you can even make it into your car and close the door. If I was smarter,I would have stayed at a local Motel/Hotel for a few days, and checked out this area a bit more thurough before setteling down here. I'm kicking myself,(between the kicks I get from my Wife)for moving here. We moved to what we "thought" was a nice area... but between the crimes commited every day just 2 blocks away at the MODEL CITY APARTMENTS,and the CONSTANT TRAFFIC running up and down Fairview ave. 24-7-365 with the LOUD RACING PIPES on all those Honda's and Toyota's doing 60 to 80 mph in a 25 mph "School Zone" I really think I should have let my Wife show me some "other places",before we threw-away so much money moving here to Kingsport...

Respectfully,
Mr. Thomas Cross
