Default Farmers Daughter (restaurant)

Has anyone been to the Farmers daughter restaurant near Greenville? I went there last night on my visit to TN and it was good, but different. I believe it's owned by the mennonites (spelling?), they bring 10 vegetabel dishes and 2 meats, plus drinks and deserts, it's kinda crazy, all of the food is brought to your table and it's all you can eat. It's basically an all you can eat buffet that is brought to your table, family meal style. The place is always packed and I can see why. I definitely recommend it.

Tony

I've eaten there several times. I used to live on the Erwin Highway about 4 miles west/south (whichever!) of the F.D.

Not to be a PITA but it's not owned by the Mennonites -- that's a clever ruse in order to get more business. The Mennonites do own the bulk food shop next door but the F.D. is run by a couple who are, for lack of a better word, non-Mennonite.

If you're in the area again you should try out the Farmhouse on US 107. Same general vicinity, a little bit better food. (Tastes less canned, and their desserts are to die for!)

I haven't eaten at restaurant either, but have heard good things about it. I do LOVE the bulk food store and their deli dept is great!

OK, I was wondering, the waitress wasn't wearing a bonnet or anything, but it was still pretty good. I'll try the other place you mentioned on my next visit.

I believe they're only open on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. Googled directions from downtown Greeneville:

Drive: 11.4 mi – about 20 mins

1. Head northeast on S Main St/US-11E toward W Depot St. (drive 0.3 mi)

2. Turn right at Tusculum Blvd/US-11E; Continue to follow Tusculum Blvd. (3.4 mi)

3. Turn right to stay on Tusculum Blvd. (2.2 mi)

4. Turn right at Erwin Hwy/TN-107 (5.5 mi)

Address for restaurant is 7700 Erwin Hwy. in Chuckey.

Good directions, but they have the potential to a bit confusing. The easiest way coming from Greeneville is to turn onto the new 107 Tusculum Bypass (four-lane intersecting with 11E immediately after passing Walmart) and just drive till you get there.

Very good place and the bulk food store next door is also pretty cool. Beware of the very friendly black Lab.
