Default JC Area Restaurant for Christmas Dinner

At the risk of sounding sacrilegious, does anyone have any thoughts on a "nice" restaurant for a small family Christmas dinner? I checked with Wellingtons, but they will not be open. They suggested Alta Cucina, and a couple of others. There was no certainty that any of their ideas would be open on the 25th. Anyone got any thoughts?

Last year we ventured out on Christmas day around 5:00 for some dinner- the only placed that we could find in JC that were open were IHOP and Waffle House. They were both completely packed- we had a 45 minute time limit at IHOP.

I think Shoneys (yuck) is open on Christmas. Not sure but I think I remember one open a few years back.

True Story from my friend from just 2 weeks ago at the IHOP in JC. There was a c.o.c.k. roach crawling on her booth. She mentioned it to the waitress who in turn said "I am not surprised, we really have a problem with them in the kitchen"!

I do not know of any place open in JC at all besides Shoney's. I even called some of the hotels and they said that their restaurants are closed.

IHOP and Waffle House are the only places I know that will be open. Last year, I had just come out of the hospital and we had nothing much to eat - so we ate dinner at IHOP - I was surprized how crowded it was. Good Luck finding something else.

We are having Christmas lunch at the General Morgan Inn in Greeneville which is very nice, but I'm not sure how late they are serving. I would call to make a reservation and check the times.

I heard today that the Ole Barn Restaurant on Okolona is open; however, I tried to call them twice today and they did not answer their phone.

I also heard that the Farmer's Daughter in Chuckey is open but believe it or not I got their voice mail as well!

I will keep my ear to the ground.

If I owned a restaurant, I would certianly be open on Christmas especially for dinner- tons of demand with very little supply out there for that day. And I dont think I would have any shortage of waiter staff volunteer to work that day either. I was not surprised at all last year when everything open was so busy.

Who would volunteer to work on Christmas Day? Plus, if I owned it, there'd be no way in heck that I'd be there.

When I worked in restaurants, it was dang near impossible to get volunteers for the 4th of July.
