We are in serious need of a good, relaxing, outdoor filled summer vacation spot. My family is nearly obsessed with fishing and being on the lake, taking a boat out for the day, just that whole lifestyle. We find it totally relaxing to be outside enjoying nature and with such a beautiful backdrop...how can you go wrong?

My question is that I have noticed several marinas around the Tri-Cities area and I would like to know in your opinion what are the nicest, family friendliest, safe places to investigate. We are looking to vacation in the middle to end of June for maybe 10 days, we just need to recharge and maybe celebrate a little if all goes well for us

We would need to rent a boat while we are on vacation as well and would love to be able to rent a cabin or such on/near the marina.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

For the whole package in one place and on a very beautiful and clean lake- I will recommend Lakeshore Resort and Marina on Watauga Lake.

Captain's Table Restaurant - Lakeshore Marina

There are several marinas on the various lakes that rent watercraft. Lakeshore is the only one I recall that has cabins right at the marina as well as an excellent restaurant (only open Wed-Sunday in season).

Watauga Lake is very close to the North Carolina border and there are interesting summer activities in the close by mountains of western North Carolina where we like to go to get away from the heat of the ET valleys.

I think that's the best place as well. Although I might suggest that you look at Morristown area as well.
