Wow, lots of Californians looking to Tennessee to relocate. I guess the Oregon Land Rush is over...

Greenville is nice. If we were to stay in SC that's where we would pick.

It works both ways. I'm actually wanting to move to Sacramento, CA but I can't afford to. I'd love to get out of this area though, yes I've been to CA and I far prefer it over this area. I'm just stuck for now though.

I agree with you, I'd love to live in the Sacramento area but it is far too expensive for us. I'll never beable to afford it. It's beautiful & has great weather. Have you lived in E. TN all your life?

Work. Had competing offers from Columbia, Knoxville, and Johnson City. We liked Johnson City the best.

Wow, that's great, lucky you. If we had jobs in Tri City area, I'd be there in a heartbeat!! But they say the work situation is bad there, but not as bad as where we live in CA, 14% unemployment! So to me the unemployment rate in TN doesn't seem that bad!

Sacramento is a great city I've been there a couple of times and have good friends there, I LOVE it there. I could afford to move there if I'd get a better job in this area but honestly I am in a low paying job around here that I can't seem to get out of. I hope to make it out eventually but its just so tough in this area to get a decent job to move out. I have lived here all my life and yeah I'm just tired of it here and wanting something different.

California is an absolutely beautiful place for the most part. Arguably the best weather in the country. It's too bad there are so many social and economic problems there. I grew up in rural Oregon, so we made many trips down to NorCal and a few down to LA and SD.

The only thing I worry about moving to the Tri-Cities area is if it will become overrun like the area I grew up did. I watched beautiful countryside disappear under a crush of strip malls and godawful pod-people housing developments in a matter of a decade. I'm sure there are some locals in Eastern TN that resent the population growth, and I can understand their concerns. We have a family friend in Greenville SC who lives on 20 acres on what used to be the middle of nowhere. She watches with misery every year as the subdivisions and commercial developments sprawl closer, and the traffic on her once-deserted road gets worse and worse. I don't want to have to deal with that.
