Default Hawkins County: Sunday afternoon pics...

Absolutely gorgeous day yesterday as I drove from Kingsport to my parents' home in Church Hill, so I drove around eastern Hawkins Co. for an hour and snapped a few photos:

REALLY beautiful! Is Hawkins Co in VA or TN? How far from Johnson City is it?

Tennessee. Church Hill is approx. 35 minutes from downtown JC, while Surgoinsville is about 45 min. from JC.

Kamo, have you been to Laurel Run park? Be sure to take your camera.

The movie 'The River' was filmed there, and when they were finished filming, they donated the land to the area for park development.

Love that place! I've picnicked & hiked there countless times, actually helped construct the trail there that connects to Bay Mtn. Park's trail system. The spring wildflower display at Laurel Run is the best in this area that I know of...I counted 24 species one April day.

One of the pics I posted (River Bend Shoals) was taken directly across the river from Laurel Run Park...fantastic setting.

kamo - we must have passed each other! We were in Kingsport and on Rotherwood Bridge and all through that area yesterday afternoon. We ended up driving back to Knoxville on 11W. Thanks for posting the pics; just gorgeous.

Default I love Laurel Run Park

I took some pictures while I was there a few months back, the pictures are near as nice as Kamoshikas, but you'll get the idea of the place for anyone interested.

Those are gorgeous. Wow, you really don't know what you've got, til it's gone. I grew up about 1/2 mile from your parents' Deerfield Plantation subdivision. Before that area was a subdivision, it was a farm--when I was a kid in the late '70s and early '80s. We rode our sleds down the side of those hills in big snows ("big" snow was deemed over 3 inches--ha!). Anyway, one of my childhood homes was across the street from Church Hill Elementary School (where I went) on Hunt and Devault streets. We had an amazing view of Bays Mountain and the other ranges that hug close to it. On sunny days like yours in the pictures--we could almost reach up and touch the sky. Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states in the nation--now that I've visited about every one.

Default Our land In Surgoinsville

We purchased land this past spring in Surgoinsville just off route 11w very near Phipps Bend Industrial Complex and it is beautiful! We spent several weeks working the parcel [5 acres], getting it ready to build on.

Wondering if anyone else here has heard of Willow Creek Subdivision. It is beautiful and very private! Just what we were looking for. It took some searching but we are glad we looked as long as we did.

Nice photos! I am wondering where that photo was taken where that foliage has changed colors.... I seen some color change when going to Elizabethton this evening, but here in Bristol, there is very little change on the trees. Most are still all green in fact.
