Default July rain has to be a record...

14.25" and still 5 days left in July for Johnson City. This weather pattern has been unbelievable.

Anyone know if this is indeed a record?

It is a record. Not only did we surpass the previous record, we have shattered it at this point. The normal amount of rain we have at this point is around 3.30 inches. So we've had three times that amount. And then when you think about the fact that the average rainfall for Kingsport is 44 inches a year, it is even more shocking. We went from a drought to a monsoon. :P I wouldn't be surprised if we got a couple more inches.

Default On WCYB last night they were talking about

breaking records and we broke a few for having so much rain. It's crazy. Our swimming pool has not had a fighting chance. The water turned green and we shocked it hard now it's just cloudy.

12.08" at the airport as of this morning. The old record was 11.34" set in Aug. '03. This on the heels of our hottest temperature ever and our warmest spring in history.

If you live another 50 years you may see another July like this.
