Finally! About time something is announced about Best Buy in Kingsport. I can't wait till it opens and from what I am hearing the current plans are for the Kingsport location to open in March 2009.

Kingsport Pavillion
It appears they are a going up with a building or building's across from Kingsport Pavillion. They are even making a turn lane at the red light to turn left if you are coming from Bristol on Stone Drive. Does anyone know what this may be? I had heard it might be a Cabela's a long while back but with Dicks across the street i very seriously doubt it. Also i dont think the site is big enough for that type of store either. I hope they do start announcing the 2 restaurants soon for there as well. Kingsport is booming with development lately with Panera Bread and Stir Fry Cafe holding their grand openings this weekend as well.

Stir Fry has already been open a few weeks, I had a mandarian chicken salad at the Kingsport one recently and man it was so good! One of the best and freshest salads I have ever had.

I'm aware of Best Buy and Decorators Warehouse coming to Kingsport Pavilion. I however have never heard of "East Shops", what is that?

I currently live in North Dakota, and am in the process of looking for a new place to live. It has been suggested that I consider Kingsport as an option. I work in retail at one of the stores that opened in the new Kingsport Pavaillion, and would hopefully just transfer.
My main concern is if the area is walkable. I cannot drive because of an eye condition. I would use public tranist too, but there are times it does not run. I have no problem walking far distances, but my main question is are there sidewalks along E Stone Dr. heading toward the Pavaillion from town? I did an aerial map search, but it is hard to tell. I know there is a highway interchange before the center coming from town. Are there sidewalks near that interchange? And also, is the area safe?
I will likely make a trip there next month if things sound okay, but this will give me a good idea.

I would say generally Kingsport is safe... Is it "walkable" - I would say no. I couldn't imagine walking along Stone Drive at any time!

No, I couldn't imagine walking along Stone Drive, either. Crossing it would be at your own peril; I used to have to drive on it with the five o'clock rushers. Jesus, I felt like I was at Bristol's Speedway. Way worse than Roan Street or State of Franklin here, or Volunteer Parkway in Bristol.
