I am looking to book a hotel in Kingsport for the spring. All have comparable rates and the three I have narrowed down are Super 8, La Quinta, and Comfort Inn. It doesn't have to be a 5 star resort as we will out and about as much as possible during the days. We will be traveling with 2 preschoolers so we are looking for family friendly. Are there any I should avoid and any other suggestions you might offer? Thanks!

I think either Comfort Inn (the one on Indian Center Ct.) or La Quinta would be your best bet, based on the reviews I've read and the locations. Comfort Inn is essentially in the heart of "modern" Kingsport but it sits between busy John B. Dennis Hwy. and even busier Stone Drive (Hwy. 11W), which is crammed w/ fast-food places but also very close to excellent restaurants & shopping.

La Quinta may be a bit nicer but it's next to I-81 near the airport, about 12-15 min. from town...in much more of a rural setting than Comfort Inn. OTOH, it's also close to Colonial Heights (a large, relatively affluent suburb of Kingsport) and it offers quicker access to Warriors Path State Park.

I really like the Hampton Inn at John B. Dennis and I-181.
