Red face Looking for some info on Bloomingdale, TN

Hi y'all!

After thinking about NC and VA I'm rethinking this TN thing, lol! Fact of the matter is, TN is more affordable. We do want to get out of and FAR away from Cocke county, I noticed Bloomingdale is close to both Kingsport and Johnson City. Anybody familiar with it? How's rent rates, is there a Walmart, Lowes and stuff like that? How are the people, the schools, my son is 13, and I am seriously considering a private school. Any info would very much be appreciated.

Default Kingsport is nice!

Hi Diva,
Bloomingdale is actually an area in Kingsport, right on the edge of the city limits and I believe it has city taxes as well, but is just north of Kingsport Commercial area. It is a nice, yet old part of town, Sullivan County schools are very good, some people swear Dobbins Bennett high is the best school in the country, But that is the Kingsport City school, I think the one in Bloomingdale is Ketter??? My son Goes to Daniel Boone High in Gray, so I don't know personally about Dobbins Bennett. I know the football field stands are full every Friday with town folk too!
Kingsport has not only 2 Wal-Marts, a Lowes, and a Home Depot, but they also have a Big Mall, (Fort Henry) and a few smaller strip malls, one of my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby is there as well as Goodies, Ross, Office Deport and more. Bunches of Restaurants.
Rent for a 3/2 will run you about $700.00 a month.
I did say I was going to post pictures of Kingsport and to be honest have totally forgotten, which is sad seeing as my office is in Kingsport and I always have my camera with me! Sorry all, I will work on that before weeks end ok?
What else would you like to know about Kingsport? You can check out the city data home page and pull up all the stats on Kingsport, but if you questions aren't answered there, just ask away!
Hope that helps.

Default Hey Mb!!!!

Hey GF!
We are prolly still going to ride through and check it out, but I think we have landed on Erwin. I did some research (a tiny bit) last night and I think I may have fallen in love. Do ya know much about there? Such as Walmart, Lowes, Rent and schools? We'd only really need a 2 bedroom 2 bath and we MUST be able to have Pets. I'll miss the landlords we have now because they are always saying this is our home and they don't mind our pets. That's hard to find for some reason. But I like that Erwin has a YMCA because I love to workout and swim and they have a summer camp and all kinds of stuff. I LOVE that Erwin is close enough to Johnson city for us to get jobs and someone said it's only 45 minutes from Ashville, which I think is AWESOME!!!! I can live near and vist Ashville without it costing me an arm and a leg, hehe!

I answered your Pm on this one already.
You can look to Telford, or parts of South Johnson City, not that much further north of Erwin. Cherokee school (elementary) which is in South Jonson City is one of the best of J.C. city schools from what I hear and there are some nice homes to rent and nice neighborhoods. The views of the Smokies are fantastic there! It is just south of ETSU, so there is always lots going on.

I couldn't find anything on telford.

What do you know about Jonesborough? I looked at the City profile and it's still close to J.C:

Jonesborough is very nice, Oldest town in TN. Very historic, lots of stuff held there, parades and such. There is lots about it on a few threads a few pages back even some pictures. Tellford is right next to Jonesborough. You live in Newport right? Go grab a TN map at the local gas station, that will help you see where everything is located in relevance to one another. It is all really close. The miles between Erwin and Jonesborough is only about 25 miles! Jonesborough to Johnson City is about 8 miles.

There is a Walmart in Unicoi, which is right next to Erwin. There are Lowes in Johnson City, Kingsport, Elizabethton and Greenville.
My best friend in Michigan's folks were from Erwin and Unicoi. When I was a teenager, we made several trips down there taking his Grandma back home.
When I lived in Western NC, several of the churches in our conference were in that area.
It sure ain't Savannah honey, but I guess you know that.
