Default Rural town within 50 miles of area

I am looking for a rural area within at least 50 miles of the tri-cities area. I will have limited funds so I am looking for cheap. I'll be needing a place with 10 or so acres for my horses. I don't mind quiet, in fact that's exactly what I want. Anyplace you can recommend where real estate is cheap and it's rural? I would like some sort of little town and medical facilities within 15-20 miles but that's it. Thanks!

It'll be a few years before we can get out of central VA but unless things change I think this would be a good choice. My sister lived in Bristol for 10 years and loved it. She and her family will be moving back in the next 5 years to retire. She has always commented on how nice people are there and I believe it! Thanks again.
