[Developer Gary] Alexander said part of the Riverbend plans...is for 100 "European condominiums," also called patio homes, to be built in the area roughly between Wal-Mart and west to the Holston River.
...Depending on demand, an additional 200 to 300 condos are to be built on "stilts" over the river’s edge farther west in the development, allowing for deck fishing. Riverbend commercial, residential development to feature helipad, upscale restaurant atop seven-story building |

That sounds very cool. Kingsport definitely has some great things happening. The demolishing the homeplace and barns, though, definitely has a bad tinge to it. Couldn't they have relocated them to the edge of the development and perhaps created a small reserve to honour the people who worked the land? That's part of what Tennessee history is, after all.

Wow, that's good news. Kingsport's economy keeps chugging along upward. Kingsport is finally starting to get its due, it seems.
