I spoke to someone yesterday who indicated a Clean Eatz was coming to JC.

Interesting concept.

Speaking of new restaurants, I heard a Kickback Jack's is coming to Hamilton Place in JC. Seems like an odd location for a sports bar since Buffalo Wild Wings is already there.

I hope this isn't true. They are my go-to healthy lunch spot.

JD is a regular stop for me and usually seems well patronized.

I wonder why that location closed?

Granted, I rarely went in there, but I always liked it when I did. The restaurant scene in Johnson City may be a tough one in terms of competition, lately. Or, it could just be a rent/lease issue. The landlord might've increased the rent to a rate not acceptable to the company.

The area needs more diverse restaurants in general to come in.

No idea, but I doubt it was a lack of business. They didn't do a lot of business in the evening, but a Jason's is a lunch place anyway. I ate there probably twice a week. It was my go-to after leaving The Wellness Center in the evening.

I liked McAllister's sandwiches better, but Jason's had the DIY salad bar and free ice cream. The JC McAllister's doesn't seem to do anywhere near the business that the Kingsport one does.

From what I heard the building owner upped the rent from about 10k a month to around 18k. Wonder if the situation at Tupelo was similar? Sad to see people get greedy and kill development here. I see a lot of similar things in the real estate listings. Homeowner buys a house, lives in it for a year, makes no improvements and then wants to sell for 30k more.

Tupelo was really in a different market segment. Tupelo started off well, but became $15-$25 a plate quickly. They were going more upscale in a way that the area just isn't fitted for.

No idea on the rent, but if true, a huge rent hike like that was stupid. That just kills businesses. If that's truly the case, I'd bet the other tenants in the building will begin relocating or closing once the current leases end.
