Hi luvinTN; Welcome to Kingsport! To answer a couple of your questions, the local telephone provider is Embarq...it was Sprint until a few months age before the spinoff, buyout or some other transaction. In some areas of the county Embarq provides DSL internet service. There are a few other ISPs around as well for dial-up service. Charter communications also provides a package of telephone, broadband internet and cable television is some areas of the county, and I have this package. If you have other questions, either post them here or send me a private message. Again, welcome to Kingsport.

Welcome to the area!
FYI: I have Charter cable (basic cable channels only) with cable modem for my computer, which I love. The package runs about $53 a month. I highly recommend this setup, if you live in an area where it's available. I live in the county, too.
I don't have a 'land line' for a phone. I just use my cell phone for everything. That's with Verizon which is real good.
Sorry about the cooler weather this weekend, but at least it's sunny (until today). It'll change again soon ... always does.

My 2 cents here. Ask questions when you deal with Charter. Ask the price for whatever services you would like to get, the choices you might have now and in the future. Eventually you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Thanks for all replies...
Just one more thing, would I have to have Charter for my cable? As I just had Direct TV put in, I wish I could get out of this contract hopefully before I'm dead, that's the one thing I hate about Direct TV. I did call embarq but that dsl isnt available where I am--any more help would be appreciated

I don't know if Charter has a monopoly on cable TV here. You'll have to check with neighbors.
Stay warm! 18 degrees this morning.
