Question Thinking about moving to Colonial Heights/Kingsport

Hey there! We're thinking about moving to Colonial Heights/Kingsport area. We love that there is an airport, park, and Bristol Race track nearby, but we are wondering if it is the best choice for us.

We are a engaged couple, no kids, 1 dog, and 2 cats. =P We want to live somewhere where we don't have to worry about crime, and where finding a job won't be too much of a hassle. We also do not want to have to commute anywhere, and we want to live somewhere affordable.

We live in a house right now, and want to move into a nice community priced around 150K or lower, but no ghettos. We were even thinking about buying some land and putting a modular home there.

How is weather out there as well? Any tornadoes, landslides, or anything like that to worry about?

I would appreciate all the help and information you can give me. Thanks!

Default colonial heights

Colonial Heights is the nicest "area" inside of Kingsport. It has the highest median income and the most education. I find it a great place to be especially if you like living close to a lake. However, there are many other nice areas in and around town. From Ridgefields to Preston Forest to more rural areas, I think you will find plenty of nice neighborhoods from which to choose. The weather is generally nice, but somewhat unpredictable. We're in the 70s now, but a week ago there was a chance of snow. I'd say the lowest "normal" temp is 20, but it has dropped down below zero since I can remember. Also, the average high is probably 90 in the summer, but I've seen it top 100. You just never know around here. We rarely get a good snowfall and only have a hit-and-run tornado every 5 years or so. No landslides that I know of.
