Moving to Watuaga Rd area (Johnson City, Watauga: apartment, condos, crime)

Hi all, I was wondering if I could get some input from members of the community. I'll be moving into new condos off Watuaga road in the (south?) JC area in the next few months. They are close to the Johnson City Country Club. Does anybody know much about this area and how safe it is? It looks like an historic part of town with beautiful tree lined streets. Does it turn into a different kind of area at night because of its relation to downtown?? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hard to say. Parts of that area can become "sketchy," but this, overall, is a very safe city. I live in one of the safest parts of South Johnson City in an apartment and right after I moved in, someone was shot in the parking lot. So crime will follow you wherever.

I would just say be smart - don't walk around after midnight. In the daytime, you should be fine. However, without knowing a more precise area, this might all be for naught as parts of Watauga are just fine.
