I moved to Kingsport about two months ago and I have a newer digital TV with a HD turner built in. I ordered Charter but had to wait and in the meantime I hung an antenna along side my tv in the living room. I hit program on the TV and I was receiving all the network channels in hi def plus their respective bonus channels. Then Charter was installed and I left he antenna hooked up. After the install I compared the two, Charter or antenna (OTA), and the antenna picture was much better. I called Charter and then sent a tech who told me that picture was the best Charter could do. I canceled Charter. Because I lease the property I mounted the antenna in the closet and I am getting, 2.1,2.2,5.1,5.2,11.1,11.2,19.1,19.2,19.3,39.1. These are digital channels and all those ending in .1 are in high definition with 5.1 sound. 2.1 is PBS and is nothing less than stunning. 39.1 is FOX, which is not available on Charter.
The best part, it is absolutely free. However, there are a few things to keep in mind, I am happy with network TV, I am on a hill, and I have a newer digital TV with a high def tuner.

ComicalMoodyDan is on a distinguished road
Well I just switched to Embarq standalone DSL. I called them Saturday and talked to the save desk which put me on just DSL. It kicked in Tuesday morning so I longer have a landline phone. Which I don't need one as I have a Skype in/out line that only runs me $5 a month for Unlimited calls to the US and Canada, plus I have my Verizon cell phone.

So paying $45 a month for the home phone and Long Distance was just a cost I didn't need.
