HUGE thunder boomer's over Gray right now. Pouring the rain. Satellite TV is out.
Lighting hit so close a few minutes ago that when the thunder came (immediately) it set the smoke detector off in the hall! Haven't had one this strong in a while. It is moving off quickly though.
Thank goodness for laptops and batteries hahahhaha.

I'm glad you had your laptop too, so we all can know that you are alright!!!
That must have been some storm to set of smoke detectors....
Be safe, and take care of yourself.

All is fine, still raining a bit and the yard is just soaking it all up! Glad to have it, but more glad (is that a proper phrase?hhahahahha) that the lighting is gone, no harm done around here. Drove to downtown JC tonight, didn't see any damage there either.

Oh yeah, it was a terrible storm here in Bristol as well! Thunder and lightning was quite severe and the rains were torrential. No covered bridge celebration for us. We were going to go to Elizabethton for that little event, but knew the rains would have kept the fun at bay.

only 0.04inch rain at my house yesterday...
Just enough rain in my area of Jonesborough to set the road and grass, but... I had decided to meet a friend at the covered bridge celebration in Elizabethton yesterday afternoon.... Oh my gosh, out of nowhere it seemed, HUGE downpour, sideways... for about 10 min, then a heavy, steady rain for another 20 min... I got tired of waiting, and given it was about dinner time, I just walked back to my car and went home when the rain lightened up... never did get to enjoy the festival. I guess there's always next year.

Heavens sakes... more storms tonight. We were in a warning for a short while. Here at my house in south Bristol, we just had lightning and brief heavy rains.

Sang a ditty at the Covered Bridge Festival
Ania, we went to the covered bridge festival in Elizabethton last Saturday night...we may have even crossed your path along the way. We went after the storm had hit. By about 8:30 more people trickled in to enjoy the evening. It was a cute festival, with lots of people eating, listening to music, yakking up a storm. We were charmed by two young men (twins we found out) playing mandolin and guitar. I asked if they'd play "Rocky Top" and asked to sing the third harmony part. Ahhh...Rocky Top in three part harmony, accompanied by cool mountain air touched with the smell of french fries and fritters, and folks clapping along to the song. They even had an Elvis impersonator...rotund girth, black wig and all. He was pretty good - sounded just like "the king."
