Its been a stormy night! Not much here in Bristol yet, save for alot of thunder and lightning... Kingsport looks like it been hammered several times. We need the rain here in Bristol, as we have missed alot of the recent rains.

MUGGY though, with temps in the upper 70s with storms.. feels like a steam bath and feels like the mid 80s.

This was issued earlier:

It was a fun one! I'm on the west side of Kingsport and we had quite a big light show (lightening) with alot of thunder. One boom and strike took out the power briefly. We got some rain but thats it. Last night though, it was a beautiful night, no bad weather, nothing and around 9 or 10pm all the power went out from the Lowes here on Stone Drive to at least my apartment at Allandale Falls It stayed off for about an hour. Suprising but it made for a nice candlelight get together with all the neighbors in the breezeway. If anyone knows why such a big area lost power for so long I'd love to hear about it.

Either I totally slept through it, or Johnson City was completely sidestepped by everything!

We have barely even seen a drop of rain in Bristol. Most of the recent rains seems to have been concentrated around Kingsport, down through Rogersville.

Nothing in Gray either. I sure wish it would though, been having to water plants every day, some times twice a day with this heat. I am going to be afraid of the water bill this month.

Forget the water, I'm afraid of the electric bill! For the past few days I've actually turned off the a/c (don't want to be surprised with another $380 bill like in January). Sheeeesh, thank goodness for popsickles!

Is everyone OK? Terrible and damaging storms ripped through the metro area tonight and wondering how everyone has faired....

At my house today.....

High - 97.7° *(airport broke another record high of 94° - 3rd day in a row)
Low - 68.5°

We had a cooling severe storm around 6-7pm here in Bristol, we had damaging winds and dangerous lightning. Some areas of town reported major tree and powerline damage. It was strange when I came out of work around 6pm, skies were dark and ominous and temps still in the mid 90s! Here at my house we had winds that bent and twisted trees, some of the worst lightning I had ever seen, but only a little rain. News said that over 55,000 were without power. That was sad news about that church set ablaze by the lightning.

This is what I had to report at 6pm on our local weather forum @ 6pm:

Current - SEVERE THUNDERSTORM / 89.1° w/75° dewpoint
