Looking for a great Pediatric Practice & GYN (Johnson City, Kingsport: insurance, pre-school)

Hi being that we are new to the area (well back after 12 years or so) & before when I was here I was a youngster myself...hehe I am looking for a great pediatrician for my 5 year old. She is starting school this year. She has had all of her pre-school checkups/immunizations already at her practice in Atlanta, but we want to find someone who is close to Kingsport & a group practice would be great, but I am okay with an individual Dr if they are highly recommended. We are selecting our insurance plan for my husband's job very soon. There is a waiting period which we are not used to, but I hear it is common up here. Anyone able to recommend a good one & I can check some names against the plans we have to select from?

Also, I will eventually need an OB/GYN. Not so much for the OB part, but for the fun annuals etc... (NOT)...lol, but I know that the moms who respond to this post may be able to offer me some information on the good practices in Kingsport or even Johnson City for that as well or do most people just see their primary care? My mom does just see her PC, but she is past all of that stuff so its not as big of a deal for her. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

We've been here almost a year and I've been going to Johnson City Pediatrics. I've been very pleased with them. I don't know if this helps if you are looking around Kingsport, but I thought I would let you know we liked them very well.

Dr Stephen Combs in Gray is a wonderful pediatrician according to my brother and sister in law.

I would highly recommend Dr. Jarjoura with Seasons OB/Gyn. His office is near Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. 247-7500

I wish I had found him years ago! He is very caring and up to date on latest treatments/techniques. He explained things in an ultrasound that my previous gyn had failed to tell me. I had a procedure done and he called personally that evening to check on me. He delivered my daughter's baby in November and had determined that a c-section was needed before the baby went into distress. Once my grandson was delivered, we found out the cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times!

My daughter uses a pediatrician near Meadowview but cannot remember her name. I believe she is part of the Holston Medical Group. Will have to get her name from my daughter for you.
