Default Building Cost in Tri-City area

My wife and I will be relocating to the Tri-cities area (Rogersville) from southern NY in the fall of 2007. We visited the area a few times and fell in feel in love with it. I don't think you can ask for more friendlier people. We have a few questions we hope someone can help us with.

What is employment like, my wife is an occupational therapist and I'm a Professional Land Surveyor with engineering/construction backround?

We already have land and would like to know what the average cost to build a 2,000 sf - 2,500 sf home is(one floor with crawl spaces and garage)?

Approximately $100/sq ft is a good #, including the land.

From what I have seen and I am only gaging from the past 6 months, I would say depending on where in the region, you can expect anywhere from $86-$125 per square foot. Hows that for a run on sentence?
