She has been given the best of care by both her GP in Rogersville and specialists in Kingsport , all of whom are part of the Holston Medical group. Compared to the health care in Fl where they were, I am grateful they were here in N.E.TN when these issues are being dealt with.
I did not have any issues finding great GP here in JC either.
Again, just stating that everyones situations are different. Maybe a few phone calls to Holston Medical and Mountain States Health Alliance to find out if there are specialists available and taking new patients for your specific needs before you move would be a good idea.
just my 2 cents.
Thanks again, mbmouse....your comments are always so helpful
First of all.....I have gravitated toward Johnson City & would like to know if " Mountain States Health Alliance " is the area Hospital for Johnson City or if " Holston Medical " also has a Hospital in Johnson City ?
Actually, I am presuming that they are Hospitals not just Medical Groups ?
I thank donsabi & mbmouse but have observed that donsabi refers to " horror stories about Holston Medical " while mbmouse refers to " the best of care " through Holston Medical ?
Having said that I would welcome hearing about more good or bad experiences with Holston Medical or other good or bad Healthcare Providers in the Kingsport/Johnson City areas ?

These sites should help you with your research.
Mountain States Health Alliance is Mountain States Health Alliance. Yes they run the JC hospital. They also run Indian Path in Kingsport.
Wellmont Health System - home They run Holston Medical, which is the hospital in Kingsport. They both run hospitals and medical centers/Dr's offices.
I have heard good and bad about both.

daddyo49,
I have now tried so many doctors that I am now duplicating without realizing I was there before. Yesterday I went into a doctors office and I thought I had been there before but I tried again anyway. Monday I went to another doctor's office and again was told they were accepting Medicare patients, filled out the application, and mentioned to the nurse that I was in pain and would appreciate expediting the application. She told me to go the ER but she would see what she could do. It is Thursday today and still not call. I think I may have tried all the medical facilities, group and individuals, in Kingsport. I should have kept a list but I never expected to run into anything like this.
I called the VA for an appointment and received a letter yesterday scheduling me for an appointment three weeks from now.
All I can say anymore is , Kingsport I surrender. I spoke with the rental manager here about early termination. I have a tentative place in another state which I will visit in August and I will see if I can get an MD there before I enter into a lease. If they will not let me out of the lease I will have to hire a lawyer and go to court. This move here to Kingsport has been disaster all because of the lack of available medical care. I will have another moving cost and possibly be responsible for the balance of the lease here in Kingsport.
Don

BTW, I am not in the real estate business.

Hospital ratings are skewed by the type of cases they are willing to take on. Some hospitals will accept only those patients with minimal risk and transfer their high risk patients to a larger facility. As a result the mortality ratings will show a higher patient loss at the hospitals which take on those high risk patients. One must examine how the ratings are based to get a true picture.
