Default Road Rage in Johnson City

I grew up in Miami, Fl, where road rage is supposedly very common. 13 years driving around Miami, I've never seen road rage. I came up here to Johnson City for a myriad reasons. The people in miami suck, the traffic is horrid, it's expensive, the weather sucks, etc.

So, I'm driving down the J. L. Seehorn today and I come up behind this guy. I was going faster than him, but I had control and hit the brakes and slowed down so there was never any risk. As we approached a speed bump, he slowed right down and went over the speed bump at about 3 miles per hour. When we got over the speed bump. He got out of the car and started yelling at me. Telling me to back the _ _ _ _ off. I put my car in reverse and idled backwards with my hands up like "It's all cool. I'm sorry." I never was in any risk of hitting this prat. He was just way over reacting. So, then he gets back in his car and I yell at him to relax. He gets back out of his car and I says again, "Relax man, relax. I'm just saying." So, then he yells, "Well don't say s_ _ _!!! You are just stupid."

At high speeds people that tailgate threaten a big problem. But at three miles an hour over a speed bump, there was no threat. Yes, maybe I should have hit the brakes harder so that I didn't get so close. Alright, still . . . there was no problem. People really need to calm down. I'll bet this guy dies of a heart attack. Even if I hit him, which again is a big IF, I'll bet it would cost like $80 at a good car wash to buff out the scratch.

If you drive a Silver Mitsu Galant, or if you know someone that drives a silver mitsu galant, this guy is a complete ass.

Ohh, also, I got his license plate number (I'm not going to say it here of course.) But I did tell the police, just in case this guy has other incidences that may have been caused by his road rage.

All that time in Miami, nothing. Come up to Johnson City where people are generally cool, and all of a sudden I'm scared of getting in a fight. Or worse.

I've actually had instances of people getting out of their cars and approaching me -- twice -- as I've went to work at 4 am before. One guy waited till we were in a turn lane surrounded by concrete medians so I couldn't get out of the situation. Needless to say, I backed up quickly. Like you, I was following behind them but not tailgaiting, at least a car length behind. One guy was definitely drunk. I don't know what the other guy's problem was.

Other than that, I've never had any problems, but I tend to drive faster than other people, which causes less friction among those who are easily "road raged."
