Default which are the not so good areas of Johnson City?

What area(s) of town (if any) are the least desirable?
Shabby,unkept, etc. ? It's so pretty, that
seems hard to believe anything could be unsightly there!
Thanks

There aren't really any areas of Johnson City that would be so undesirable; especially when compared to "undesirable" areas in larger cities.

That having been said, you would probably want to steer clear of some areas near downtown (Carver, Carnegie - these are the areas around Watauga and Unaka Avenues) and Keystone. Just below all that, Northside is pretty rough too. Basically anything east of Tree Streets for a few miles until the city gives way to suburbia/countryside.

Just my opinion, of course. A lot of people don't like living around Antioch because of the large number of ETSU students in apartments, but parts (closer to Antioch Baptist) are very nice.

I would add the east side of Fairview Ave. too.
But I agree with jabogitlu, compared to larger cities, there are very few and they really seemed to be contained to a few blocks of space.

If you've got a map, basically draw a triangle from where Unaka and E Main/W Market meet to where Furnace Rd and Hilltop Rd connects.

I wouldn't buy anything in this area with an extra little buffer zone. However, it's ironic to me that I consider the country club to be in this area.

I have heard the southeast side in general is a "bad" area, but I have not been there in a couple of years. It may be totally different now.
