Default For those who think JC grows too slowly... ;)

Here are some amazing pictures I ran across on the johnsonsdepot.com website:

This is construction on the JC Med Center in 1979. Hard to believe that was just thirty years ago. It looks like the middle of nowhere; now the SoF/Market intersection is the busiest in the city!

State of Franklin at ETSU, 1986. Again, looks like the middle of nowhere (minidome notwithstanding!)

State of Franklin at Knob Creek. No commentary needed.

Well, here's downtown a couple years ago. I wonder by 2020 what it'll look like...

Oh, and appropriate (read the amtrak posts):

A streetcar in the early 1900s! Too bad we don't still have those...

This website is one of the very best local sites around! Its creator is truly dedicated to his city and especially to preserving its history, per all the incredible numbers of articles and old pictures he's collected from many different sources. He is also a dedicated railroad buff - and one thing I really like about him is that he has researched the story of 'Little Chicago' and put that info out there! (Many older JC folks would like to forget this period of JC's history - which is perhaps its most intriguing!)
