If your wife is a nurse, she will have no trouble finding a job at the several big hospitals in the Tri-Cities area. They are currently offering sign on bonuses and car give aways to new hires. As far as other jobs in Bristol, I really haven't heard of many except factory work type jobs.
What else are you looking for? Why Bristol?

Bristol
We have friends that are from the Bristol area and are moving back from Fla. We were going to move to Fla. To expensive, to many people. and to many storms etc. The middle southern states, Tenn, Ky, Va etc. are less crowded as compared to Fla. Most of all I like the people. We are tired of the harsh weather. We ride a Harley (something that we enjoy together). I am semi-retired and I want to go someplace that I feel comfortable. I dont know if this answers your question, hope so.

OK, yes it does. If you have friends that are in Bristol that makes sense as to why you would be choosing there. And as you don't have school age children, you may love Bristol. There are some seedy areas, as with any town, but Bristol is a great place as far as being able to live and work in TN with no state income tax but a very short trip to VA to buy groceries to avoid the high sales tax on groceries in TN.
Bristol has a few neat streets in downtown that have some great stores that are fun to go through and there is the Paramount theater that has some great shows throughout the year. There is also Viking Hall that has concerts and sports venues. Of course there is Bristol Motor Speedway if you like Nascar.

Moving to Bristol
I've thought of Bristol, also. Spent less than a week in the Bristol/JC/Kingsport area in early October. Absolutely gorgeous colors in the early part of the month! I want to move to ETN next Spring, and will need to continue working, although not in my current "area" of work. I've been a flight attendant for the past 10 yrs. and know that I will have to do something else in the area. I have Admin. Ass't. experience prior to flying. Will I have any problem finding work in the area? And what about rental properties? I've decided that renting first before buying would be best for me.

Not really, but temper your expectations as far as wages.
And what about rental properties?
There are many great places to rent or buy.
Finally, I don't see why you wouldn't look into flight related jobs at Tri-Cities Airport. It's about 15 minutes from Bristol, Kpt, and JC.

Bristol is a wonderful place that has very mild weather in all seasons. Spring and Fall are absolutely gorgeous here. Schools in TN are fantastic for the most part. We do have the airport if you would still like to be a flight attendant. The wages are a bit lower that other areas but our cost of living seems to be a bit lower as well, such as on rental property. There are many nice amenities including a bike/walking trail that goes through town all the way to the local park (Steele Creek) and on over to another park (Rooster Fron). Crime is not a problem here. You never really hear of random acts of violence or random crimes. Domestic issues are the norm. Just a very quiet, peaceful town with lots to offer.

Sorry, that was back in February of 2007. I haven't heard any advertisements like that (sign on bonus, car give aways etc.) in over a year.
The two main hospital and medical facility management companies in this area are Mountain State Health Alliance and Welmont Healthy Systems.
They both have good web sites with a list of what positions they are hiring for.
