It's a black rat snake. This one was about 4' long but I've seen them up to 6'.

Kamoshika, I just so appreciate your talent for photos! When I look at them, my blood pressure comes down and I get a big smile on my face.....ummmm, with the possible exception of your snake buddy!!
Will be arriving Elizabethton on Monday the 20th......how are your gas prices now? I have read of some shortages in western TN. Here in New York, we are just under $3.
Our fall colors are popping out very nicely as well.

I love that drive to, hubby and I go up that way too if we head to the lake, always beautiful no matter what time of year but extra nice in the fall.

I wasn't going to say anything but well, I think I will. I never ever dream of snakes and after seeing this thread last night I woke up twice dreaming (nightmares) of a snake! Besides that these are gorgeous pictures!

Gas here is around $3.50. You'll find random shortages (I stopped at a Shell yesterday that was completely out of gas), mostly having to do with midgrade and premium, but no "shortages" really.

Thanks! I hope y'all enjoy your stay in Elizabethton and get to explore the area a bit.
The cheapest gas price I've seen in these parts recently was 3.23 today in Bristol, VA. Also as of today, Gasbuddy reports low prices of 3.35 in Elizabethton, 3.34 in Kingsport (but I saw 3.24 on the way home), and 3.29 in Johnson City.
FWIW, I hesitated to post the snake pic but he was such a handsome fella that I couldn't resist! Sorry, mbmouse & SmokyMtnGal, but I assume no responsibility for any pic-related shrieks, nightmares or coffee-spewin'.

It seems unfair that I should have to wait to sell my house in IL before I can move there.
