Dunkin' Donuts likely coming to our area.
Dunkin' Donuts Opens Tri-Cities for Franchise Sales
Anonymous. PR Newswire. New York: Oct 2, 2008.
Abstract (Summary)
Dunkin' Donuts, America's favorite everyday, all-day stop for coffee and baked goods, is in the midst of a national expansion to increase its franchised locations in the U.S. Fueling this growth is today's announcement that Kingsport, Johnson City and Bristol, TN, and the surrounding areas are now open for franchise sales with plans to open approximately 30 new restaurants over the next several years.

What are some good doughnut places in the Tri-Cities?
Daylight Donuts is excellent in JC near ETSU. Is it locally owned or franchised?

Yeah, I can't believe Dunkin' Donuts isn't there already. Growing up around Kingsport, the only place we could get Dunkins was when we vacationed to Myrtle Beach, SC. Here in the northeast, there's practically a Dunkin's on every street corner! It's really out of hand!

There used to be a Dunkin Donuts on Stone Drive across from K-Mart when I was growing up. When it was my turn to bring snacks to Girl Scouts I would always have my Mom take me there to get donut holes. Very vivid memory. This was back in the 70's.

Hmm, cool, I guess. Since the entire metro only has ONE Krispy Kreme, I'd welcome a Dunkin' Donuts (but mostly for their coffee!!!). Still though, I hope that Daylight Donuts can weather the competition, because I agree, they're really good. (And AFAIK, not a franchise.)
