Default Sahib Closed; New Restaurant in

Has anyone else noticed that Sahib is GONE in Johnson City? Wow, that was a fast departure. There's a new Southwest Grill (I forget its name - something like El Chile) in its place. Great, another one, just what we need, with Salsarita's and Barberito's and all the other ones around here.

So that brings Johnson City down to one Indian restaurant. If it goes, too, I'll be very sad.

Bummer. I loved the food at Sahib. Location though, left something to be desired. Downtown would be a great place for ethnic restaurants...perhaps the good folks at Sahib are thinking along those lines.

Hm, the location wasn't that bad. Maybe I said the wrong name. This was the one beside Bailey's near Poor Richard's Uptown. Was that Sahib or Sitar?

I echo what rccrain said. Im not much for that type of food, but I like to see variety of different foods around. At the end of the day, it comes down to supply and demand. If the market here were able to sustain another Indian food store, it would have. If there isnt enough people to keep another Southwest grill busy, it too will be gone.

Jab, wasn't Sahib the one that was located next to one of the motels in town? Just not a great location, even though the food was great and the interior was very nicely deocorated. The food and decor deserve a better venue.

Okay, if Sahib is the one next to Days Inn, then it was Sitar that closed. Whichever it was is the one beside Bailey's. The one beside Days Inn is still open, so go visit it so it doesn't close!!!

Never tried Sitar, but Sahib was really good. I've been experimenting with curry and yogurt in my stir fries ever since eating there...I'm getting close to the taste of the chicken curry I ordered last time there! Nummy! Yes, jabogitlu and dcommander, I'm going to join you in the effort to support the ethnic restaurants like Sahib.
