Anywhere to find Falafel in the Tri-Cities?
We moved here from Knoxville about 2 years ago, and there's a lot I don't miss....but what I do miss is the great falafel wraps from middle eastern restaurants.
Is there anywhere to get falafel in the tri-cities? Thanks!

Hmmm, good question. Probably not unless it's somewhere up in Bristol that I don't know about. Or you could try Earth Fare (which is now open). They may have it in the food services section.

This area really could use a good middle eastern restaurant! Miss falafel too. Tried the box mix you buy in the grocery store but it wasn't even close.

Kingsport had a Persian restaurant, Aladdin's Cuisine, for two years but they closed last month due to major building renovations. I never tried it but their menu included falafel, hummus, and kabobs. According to a recent Times-News article, the owner hopes to relocate to Colonial Heights or the airport exit off I-81.
There no falafel on the menu at Bristol's Mad Greek Restaurant but you can get gyros, baklavas, souvlaki, and hummus, among other things.

Okay, maybe I'm missing something, but what in the world is in Colonial Heights or I-81's airport exit that would support a niche restaurant!? : puzzled:

The restaurant's owner already owns property in both of those areas. FWIW, Colonial Heights is probably the most affluent community in NE Tenn. with an est. 2007 household income of $55,900 (compared to $37,200 for JC, $35,400 for Kingsport, and $42,367 for all of Tennessee). I can't see a Middle Eastern restaurant doing too well at Exit 63, however.
