Default pics of Greeneville & western Washington Co.

Yet another stunningly beautiful day yesterday (10/19), so I decided to go check out Greeneville. Even though I've lived in NE Tenn. for more than 30 years, I've only been to downtown Greeneville 3 or 4 times. The historic downtown is very attractive in spite of the numerous vacant buildings (especially on Depot Street). Much of Greeneville is extremely hilly, which adds to its visual appeal. My girlfriend and I agreed that parts of the town have a very different "feel" to them than anywhere in Kingsport, JC, Bristol, or Elizabethton, one that's hard to describe but but it almost feels like you're somewhere out west. The wonderful mountain backdrop probably has something to do with it!

I also wanted to check out the scenery along TN-107, so we drove from Kingsport to Johnson City and made our way to Greenwood Drive.

Heading west on Greenwood Dr.:

Liberty Church Rd. just off TN-107:

Along TN-107 in eastern Greene Co.:

Small picnic area at the Big Spring in downtown Greeneville:

Some of Greeneville's many architectural gems:

The short walk to Andrew Johnson National Cemetery was well worth it. Our 17th president is interred beneath this monument:

Views from the cemetery's Signal Hill:

Coming back home via Bowmantown Rd./Hwy. 75 in western Washington Co.:

Beautiful. I grew up on the 107 in Greene County and live now just off Greenwood Drive, so you were really all around my old haints, kamoshika.

Very nice pictures! You are making me very homesick. I am originally from the Johnson City/Gray area, but traveled through all of East Tennessee. I live in Nashville and our scenery is not quite that stunning.

Greeneville has really changed since the last time I was there.

Thanks for posting your pics!
