HI Josh: What town or city is that looking down from the tower? What are your temps? You're not missing anything back here at home!

Sue, The town I was looking at is Kingsport, I believe. Yesterday was 65ish. It was beautiful. Today it's going to be nice and cool. Something like 50?

Great pictures! I have yet to go up to the tower, but now that you showed us those great pictures, I am going to have to schedule it in for sure!
Yes, from what I see in the pictures, you were looking primarily at Kingsport, however I also see the Colonial Heights area of Kingsport, Mount Carmel and maybe even parts of Church Hill along the river there. I believe you also got some pictures of the Rock Springs area.

mbm, I looked at the map where the ammo plant is and your right it is Mt. Carmel. 26 ran right along the towers up there at the peak.

Great Pictures Once Again!
Next time I go home for a visit, I may have to venture up that way again. Last few times I was there, the haze had been fairly bad, restricting the visibility.
Did you go into the Planetarium?
Some of the pictures look as though you were shooting towards the south as one of the mountains looked like Roan Mountain, which is on the Tennessee/North Carolina border.
That would be a good trip for you. The views from the top of Roan Mountain are very awesome.
I have been up on that Bays Mountain tower years ago and shot several pictures. It is not too far from the communication towers you see at the edge of the mountain.
I wish we had mountains like that around the Nashville area. There is one area in Nashville I used to hike around called Radnor Lake. A beautiful area, only a few miles from downtown Nashville, but to hike around it seemed like it is far out in the country.
There is a hiking trail to the top of a ridge, which offers great views of the downtown Nashville Skyline. So, if you ever venture down this way, you will have to check it out, along with the Natchez Trace Parkway, which in a couple of weeks should be beautiful with the changing leaves.
I told my wife yesterday, it was strange we are this close to Halloween and all our trees are still green. That should change tonight with the freeze. Of course, the movie "Halloween", which I think was supposed to take place in Chicago had trees full of green leaves through the whole movie
I, also, appreciate the nice note someone left on my "reputation section" commenting on the WCYB Fillers I shot years ago. The first one I put together was shot on top of Roan Mountain. I eventually had to include graphics at the bottom of the screen describing where the footage was shot, because we got so many calls from viewers inquiring about the whereabouts of the scenery in those fillers.
Hope you continue to have a great time in the Tri-City area.

Buzz, I will try and get to Roan Mtn.
I wanted to go to Grandfather Mountain today, but the winds shut the bridge down. Good thing I called before I drove! I thought about Mt. Mitchell and then decided that with it being on the BRP I'm not sure it will be open or worth the trip. I'm leaving Thursday a.m so I can try and make it home at a decent time Friday. Honestly I wish I had more time down here, but that's life.

Wow thanks for those pics! Kingsport is my birthplace. I love them hills If you were on 81S outta Kingsport, you went right past where my gg grandma's cabin was(Civil war), perched up above Double Springs church, and my grandma's old home place about a half mile south, and my cousins places. I used to ramble all thru there. That's where my mama taught me all about trees and flowers and stars, and such, where I learned to milk a cow and top tobaccy. Got water from the well. Used an out house and chamberpot
Thanks for the memories
