Are there any Mongolian BBQ Restaurants in the Area?
Where we used to live there was a restaurant that advertised itself as "Mongolian Buffet". There was a traditional Chinese buffet, but also another buffet where you picked out your own meat and vegetables (raw), put sauce on it, and then someone cooked it for you on a big "grill".
Is there anything like this in the area? We've been looking but haven't found anything yet.
Thanks!

There used to be one in the building that Sushi Blues is in now (can't remember the name). But it closed down. The closest thing now is the new Chinese buffett next to the Cingular call center on Roan St. in JC. They have a mongolian barbeque station as part of their buffett. I wouldn't say it's the best I've had, but it's ok. They are skimpy on the sauce, so it tastes sort of bland, I always ask for extra sauce!

The only one I know of that is remotely close to what you are describing is in Asheville, west of town.

Jenn, I LOVE that Chinese Buffet... well, as far as buffets go. Their sushi is really good. I hope they make it, it always seems crowded in there, but that's sort of a "charmed" location... you know how when one restaurant doesn't make it in a building, seems like none can?

Oh yeah, I do enjoy their sushi! I'm a vegetarian though, so I don't usually get as much out of Chinese buffetts as my husband does I tag along when he wants to go!

In either '06 or '07, Kingsport had one on Center St. but it lasted only a few months.

It is now called AT&T call center. Sorry, we aren't really good with change and call buildings the same thing for years after they changed names.
If you took 26 south to Roan St, go left on Roan and just before the road splits into Roan to the left and Bristol Hwy/11E to the right, the buffet restaurant is on the right. In the easter side of the AT&T parking lot. If you get to Long John Silvers, you have gone to far.

Yes, when you are new, you don't know where all the "old" stuff is!
