Default Pics

Your pictures are great. I lived in Hawkins Co. for a very short time. Too bad I didn't get to see much of the area. I did however meet the most wonderful people in the world. You can't beat NE Tennessee. Klosk

Not just the beauty of the area. He can capture the beauty of a landscape or a butterfly with equal artistry. Add me to the list of people who would buy a book of his pictures.

Wow. I just went through all 35 pages and these are amazing. The only pic thread I've seen that even comes close here on City Data is the NH thread.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Also a special thanks to kamoshika for going the extra mile to add hyperlinks to many of the submissions showing where they were taken. That means the world to someone who is not familiar with the area and trying to get a feel for the different places.

Thanks to all for your kind words. This area truly is gorgeous, and I appreciate it more every time I get out and about.

FWIW, I lost my little Canon camera in early June after traipsing around Rocky Fork near Flag Pond; I think I left it on my trunk when I drove off. Got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35K last month and still have much to learn about it, but I like it pretty well so far.

Part of Kingsport's Edinburgh subdivision, off Rock Springs Road:

From a walk along Douglas Chapel, Moore, Brethren Church, and Paul Saylor roads about 1.5 mi. NE of Sulphur Springs in Washington County:

Three different views of Chimneytop Mountain, the tallest peak in these pics, from different points in western Sullivan County. The 3118' mountain straddles the Greene & Hawkins Co. lines. From Gum Springs Road:

I have the same camera (a model from 3 years ago). I really think it strikes a perfect balance between DSLR and point and shoot. Can't wait to see more of what you can do with it. You may have to give me some tips.

Egrets, herons, and a Roseate Spoonbill, a very rare visitor to East Tennessee, seen along the Phipps Bend Nature Trail near Surgoinsville:

Went for a hike on the Roan balds last weekend. The Angora goats pictured are participants in the Baa-tany Goat Project.
