Campgrounds
My hubby and I are visiting in the Spring. We will probably be up somewhere around late April/May. If you could recommend a nice campground in the Tri-Cities area that is also relatively close to Knoxville I would really appreciate it. We are visiting to check out the area(s) to see about relocating, so a campground with showers would be a definite plus(cleanliness in nature...insanity, I know ). I'm not sure if I'm gonna be cooking like I normally do since we wanted to check out some local places to eat, but a campground with a tent site that has water/electric would be a plus. Thanks in advance!

I highly recommend Warriors' Path State Park in Kingsport. It's very nice and has all the amenities you want, plus it's close to restaurants and grocery stores.
Downtown Kingsport is 12-15 minutes away, Johnson City 20 minutes, and Bristol about 25 minutes. The drive to Knoxville's a straight shot down the interstate that takes about 85-90 minutes.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Thank you all for your suggestions(and links ) I will have to do some research and probably book soon. I know that some campgrounds fill up fast.

The best campground in Upper East Tennessee is right in the hub of the Tri-Cities, Lakeview RV Park, www.lakeviewrvpark.com. That campground is midway between Bristol and Johnson City. It is around 100 miles from Knoxville. Lakeview has individual bathrooms that are kept very clean. The staff there is the most friendly and helpful that we have met in 17 years of camping. I would definately take a look at Lakeview RV Park. It is three miles from Bristol Motor Speedway on Highway 11 E.

I realize the time has passed, but in case anyone else is interested in the topic, I've found a lot of great campground info at the TN gov site:

I highly recommend the TVA campgrounds. We just stayed at the Cherokee Dam. Douglas Dam is a good one as well. It was very clean and the people were friendly. Have fun.
