Thats neat, looks like a family plot maybe. I just love the history and the stories old cemetaries have hidden in them. And the craftsmanship, or lack thereof, used on old headstones. Thanks MB

I don't recall where we should post events and fun venues - like a new play opening (with Mafia/Little Chicago/The Sopranos overtones) from the Blue Moon Theatre group...??

JerBob is on a distinguished road
Hey folks,,,my wife and I bought land in Roan Mountain about 3 years ago, and may be looking to build this year...however,,,we haven't even gotten the land's postal address. Any idea how one goes about doing that? Also,,,any ideas on good log cabin or cabin siding contractors that build nice quality "moderate" sized houses? About 1700 sq ft?

(Sounds like a fun production)

Mafia types are prepared to start BREAKING LEGS at the Blue Moon Dinner Theatre
The Blue Moon Dinner Theatre, Johnson City’s premiere dinner theatre, continues its 2009 season with the Mafioso comedy Breaking Legs by Tom Dulack. The worlds of the Mafia and the Theatre collide in an Italian restaurant. The meatballs hit the fan when a college professor turned playwright has his play produced by a Mafia don. Prepare yourselves for a madcap entrée of murder and menace with a heaping side of pasta and laughter. This is Theatre - Tony Soprano style!
“We have a cast of 6 very talented people who bring this spoof to life” says Artistic Director Edward Breese. “Johnson City has a history with Al Capone…” Continued Breese” I thought Breaking Legs would be a hilarious piece to do while paying a little tribute to our history.”
The Blue Moon Dinner Theatre will be serving a 5 course Italian dinner with this show. All meals are served by the wait staff and all the tables are candle lit.
Breaking Legs opens Friday April 10th and plays through May 30th 2009. SPECIAL PRICE for the run of Breaking Legs! Tickets are just $34.99 plus tax for general admission (discounts are offered for seniors, students, veterans and active military with valid ID). Gift certificates and group rates are available. Performances are held weekly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, meal at 6:00pm/show at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees, meal at 1:00pm/show at 3:00pm. Tickets may be purchased online at www.bluemoondinnertheatre.com or phone 423-232-1350. All major credit cards accepted.
The Blue Moon Dinner Theatre is located at 215 E. Main Street downtown Johnson City, Tennessee.

Another event, to be held at the Culp Center; 'Democracy Now!' host Amy Goodman will speak on April 7th at 7PM.

According to the JCPress Article, “‘Democracy Now!’ has been one of our most successful programs ever in terms of listener support,” said Wayne Winkler, station manager. “It covers topics and provides viewpoints that are simply not available from other media outlets in this region. We are thrilled to have this respected journalist visit Johnson City and we hope many people will take this opportunity to hear her perspectives on today’s events.”..................

"Goodman has received acclaim for her exposes of human rights violations in East Timor and Nigeria, and is the first journalist to receive the “Right Livelihood Award,” which is presented annually by the Right Livelihood Foundation in a ceremony in the Swedish parliament in Stockholm. Other honors include the Golden Reel for the Best National Documentary for “Drilling and Killing: Chevron and Nigeria’s Oil Dictatorship” in 1998 and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Prize for “Massacre: The Story of East Timor” – a piece that nearly cost Goodman her life in that she survived the 1991 massacre in which Indonesian soldiers gunned down 270 Timorese."

She is a truly impressive and courageous woman as well as a superb journalist. Hope some of you get to go!

I sooooooooo want to go hear Amy Goodman. Alas, I have class, and this close to the end I can't miss.
