Default Parenting question....

I know this is the general chat thread, and I have a parenting question regarding a comment my daughter's friend made to my daughter as I was driving her home on Saturday night. (she is nine). The comment floored me and I told her mother.

Not sure if it's ok to discuss here (it is not vulgar or profane) , but would like another parent/adult perspective on it. If it's ok, let me know and I will post it here.

If it's not ok and you are a parent/adult who wouldn't mind letting me run this by you, please dm me !

I dont have many friends with kids that are my daughter's age so I don't have a point of comparison.

Thanks !!!

Default 3rd day of summer break and I'm already nuts. Ok. U can laugh.

I have a 9 year old and a 3 year old. I am an at home mom/run a small side business.

I......am........nuts........already this summer. The past summers have been easy. Either I had an only child, or an only child and a baby that was easy to deal with. This summer is gonna be nutty.

Latest scene at my house apx. 30 min ago.......

9 year old screaming at 3 year old, 3 year old laughing hysterically and running down the hallway, slams my bedroom door, locks it.

I unlock it, he hides in my closet laughing.

I look at my bed....yes....the TOILET brush....the WET toilet brush.....has been flung onto the center of my bed.

3 year old thinks this is hysterically funny.

The 3 yr old is game for just about anything as far as outings.

The 9 year old doesnt want Bays Mtn. says she's been there a million times , Doesn't want the Library (which my 3 year old has pratically been banned from by me), says it's too hot for the park ( I agree ).

They are both screaming "go to the dam (Boone) or go to the pool!".

"wetlands!"

"warriors !"

I am sayin' to myself....on the inside...."I hate hot. I hate bathing suits !. Why did your daddy have to leave for work !".

I am getting ready to leave with them...to drive around aimlessly until I find something fun for them to do.

I have already put the sprinkler in the driveway and they played in that for an hour.

Daughter wants to go to the Splash Pad. Maybe we will end up there.

Let the summer insanity begin !!!

Did I mention I offered to teach the 3 year old class at VBS this summer ??? 3 year olds are willllllllld ! LOL !

We went Friday afternoon, enjoyed the food and the music, especially Buck Hoffman's Blues.. It's just great to see so many folks downtown having a good time!

Blue Moon Shines ON GOLDEN POND
The Blue Moon Dinner Theatre, Johnson City’s premier dinner theatre, continues is 2009 season by proudly presenting On Golden Pond by Ernest Thomson. Touching, funny and warmly perceptive, it is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, a spirited and lovable elderly couple who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple has longed for.

Artistic Director Edward Breese recalls playing Charlie the Mailman in On Golden Pond at the Olde West Dinner Theatre in 1996. “It was one of my first acting jobs after attending ETSU”. Breese will be wearing the uniform of the U.S. Post Office once more this summer as he steps back into the role he played 12 years ago. Breese will not be the only one recreating their role from The Olde West , The cast is headed up by Nancy Hope Major, a familiar face on local stages, who is taking the stage as Ethel Thayer (the part made famous by Kathrin Hepburn in the 1981 movie)
Join the Blue Moon for dinner before the show and enjoy a delicious 5 course meal…Twice Baked potatoes, salad, garden vegetable Soup, grilled BBQ chicken and..At intermission enjoy fresh strawberry shortcake and gourmet Coffee.

On Golden Pond opens Friday June 26th, 2009 and plays through August 22, 2009. Special Summer Price – All Seats 34.99 plus Tax. Gift certificates and group rates are available. Performances are held weekly on, Friday and Saturday evenings, meal at 6:00pm/show at 8:00pm and some Sunday matinees, meal at 1:00pm/show at 3:00pm. Tickets may be purchased online at www.bluemoondinnertheatre.com or phone 423-232-1350. All major credit cards accepted. Blue Moon is a BYOB facility.

The Blue Moon Dinner Theatre is located at 215 E. Main Street downtown Johnson City, Tennessee

Hello,

I hope you don't mind me joining in but I have really enjoyed reading your post. The toilet brush on the bed, now that made me laugh. Sorry mom, but as that song goes I'd trade for those days. Trust me kids grow up sooo fast, hang in there. I live in another State but I've fallen in love with the tri city area. I love it!
Just thought I'd share something that has ended up to be so beautiful. Last year at work we had to make a huge burm to block the view of the company. It's about 15 feet tall and about 600 feet long. So we had grass seed sprayed on the entire mound but they also had me go to landscape company and get wild flower seeds. So a few weeks ago......wow and exposion of color. I mean 600 feet of wild flowers. People are stoping by taking pictures of their kids in front of the flowers. People are stoping thanking the owners, maybe I'll try and figure out how to post some pics....The flowers are so brilliant and it's beautiful. So this fall I'm planting wild flower seeds in the field next to my house...
Have a great week and I really wanted you to know how much I enjoy reading everything you have to share. I hope you don't mind me peeking in from time to time, have a wonderful week.
