Restaurant/business build dates?
Not sure where to post this, but does anyone know of a local or national website that has records of dates of when a certain building was built, such as fast food restaurants, department stores, malls, etc? I am looking for info on this for some business structures. I know that some of the data is available on the "skyscraper" page for the taller buildings in the metro area, but not like restaurants, businesses, etc.
I know you can look up residential tax-appraisal type records on the internet that shows years houses were built... anything like that for businesses as well?

Thanks. Wow, that Taco Bell building dates as far back as 1956?

I seriously doubt it. It goes by property, not necessarily structure.... hm.

1956 was the first recorded transfer of the property. Looks like a building was added between 1985 and 1987.

Thanks and thanks for the link! I was thinking that maybe it was the land itself on some of those dates. I have been having some trouble with the website not working for some reason (when I type in a business or address), but I was able to see that some listings have "build dates" on them. I had found another site similiar to that one, but it did not have any build dates on the business areas.
I was mainly trying to figure out when McDonalds on West State Street in Bristol was built. I know it was an older structure by the looks of the brick and decor, but could not remember the year it was built. I tried contacting the local restaurant manager by the website, but the email is not working. I also contacted corporate, but they said they did not know. (How strange). The website you posted said "build date" was 1988, which seems about right, but I personally dont remember it being rebuilt in 88'. I think the original Mickey D's was built there in 1973 according to the site. I know the old one on the Volunteer Parkway was built in 1971 (according to the site). I remember having a birthday party there in 1984! They tore it down and rebuilt it in 2005. Personally, I did not see anything at all wrong with the old building, but I guess they had their reasons.
THEN, some businesses I cannot even find on that site. It will not bring up any of the Taco Bells in Bristol Tennessee and we have two of them on the TN side. I even just tried putting in the addresses only. No go. I must be doing something wrong, because McDonalds is the only business I can seem to look up on any county. I even tried looking up that Taco Bell by searching Washington Co. and it says no records. ????
I hate to see the 70s and 80s style buildings/restaurants torn down and remodeled. They are not that old, but I think it would be neat to preserve them... one day they will be very old and part of a history.
Thanks again!

The method I use to look things up on that data base is
#1 google it
#2 sort by property type - this time commercial.
#3 sort by address
#4 enter base address: STATE ST W
#5 Search
#6 ctl-F to find and enter number: 2940
#7 Results for Taco Bell on west state street:

Some of the things that can throw you off.
The address field is very particular, but it is the only sure thing. You aren't searching for 'Taco Bell'; you are searching for whoever owns Taco Bell's land.
Since you seem to know the area, you can use this map to zoom in on the exact parcel you want to know about. It may be easier for you. TNMap Viewer
Explore the map; select identify; then click the property that you want data on.

I am doing something wrong. Still getting "no records match your selection".
What do you mean by step 1, "google it"? I know what google is, but I dont see any google option on that website.
