Default Mexican tiendas?

So has anyone ever shopped at any of the Mexican tiendas in the area? If so, which ones? Do you recommend it/them?

I would like to know this too. I'm not sure where I've even seen one around.

I'm assuming they are just the Mexican general stores?

There is one on W Oakland Ave (if coming from Roan, on the right past the Laundromat) and one next to Azteca Buffet in with Food Lion on Bristol Highway. I haven't been to either but have considered it several times. We eat a lot of Mexican and TexMex food.

There's a place on West Belmont St. in JC, between Main & Market called Tortilleria Familiar. They have the best tortillas made fresh there, (just to die for) and other canned goods, lots of dried chiles, and fresh pan dulce. I haven't tried the chorizo sausage they have - maybe next stop.

There's also a place on West Market called Volcanoes Bakery. They have baked goods & really, really good tamales.
