Default Questions on moving to Johnson City?!?!?!

Hello, My name is Brock and I am currently in the U.S. Marine Corps and im on deployment overseas. I will be getting out the the Marines in December. I have a wife and a 2 year old little boy! Well we plan on moving to Johnson City where we both will be going to school and working. Ive only been through Johnson City once when i was younger and ate at hooters! So we dont know a whole lot about Johnson City we are both from Indiana and dont want to move back there. And right now we are looking at 2 different apartment complexes ( Summer Chase Apartment Homes and Sterling Hills Apartments). I was hoping to maybe get some feedback on these 2 apartment complexes or if you know a better or nicer one I am taking recommendations! haha. Well I was just hoping to get more information on these apartments and some more information about Johnson City and is it a good place to raise a family? Ive googled everything i can think of about Johnson City so now im hoping to hear from people that live there! Any input would be awesome. Thank You for your time!!

Brock

Hello, welcome to the forums and thanks for serving, I appreciate you!
Yes, both Summer Chase and Sterling Hills are fairly nice apartment complexes. The big difference would be location. Sterling Hills is more south of the city and almost into Carter County. Summer Chase is right in JC, but it doesn't feel like it.
What else would you like to know about JC?Personaly, I live in north JC, I am raising my kids here becuase I couldn't find a better place to do so and very happy with the choice and so are they. Read through these threads, lots of great info here and feel free to ask any questions, lots of great folks on here who love to talk about the areas they like.
Hope that helps.

I would request the free ap't guide at Tri-City Apartment Guide - Johnson City Apartment, Kingsport Apartments, Bristol Apartments

I am moving in a couple months (from one JC location to another) and it helped me find what I wanted. Some of those apartments in the guide are great, some are chapter 8 and a couple are in BAD locations. So anything that seems interesting, I would definitely ask here on C-D about them.

I think JC is a great location to raise kids (just don't be surprised if they move somewhere a bit more exciting for college, haha!).

Since mouse and Jab have just about covered it, I want to say thanks for your service. I have a couple of friends in Lima Company out of Johnson City and they are two of the greatest men on earth. Lima Company is scheduled for their third deployment to the ME this Fall.
