Doubt it. The only way it could happen is if several large corporations started forming in Blountville. But I guess its conceivable if the next Bill Gates is plugging away in his Bluff City garage. Can you imagine the traffic in Kingsport? I can't even imagine what we would do with our airport.

I dont see it happening in our lifetime. There is even too much land in the cities to expand... we have not even seen skyscrapers yet, which is something I would like to see.
Several 10-11 story tall buildings in Bristol and a couple 10-11 story tall in Johnson City is about it for this area.
