I think they can read they just don't seem to take the document seriously anymore or remember that they work for us and not the other way 'round.
We need to all remind them of the following important date, that we're watching closely, and that they effectively have been 'served notice'...
Elections to the United States Senate will be held on November 2, 2010, with at least 36 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate being contested. Thirty-four of these are to six-year terms, from January 3, 2011 to January 3, 2017. They will join Senate Class III, which traces its roots back to the senators who served full six-year terms from March 4, 1789 to March 3, 1795. Elections to the United States House of Representatives as well as some state and local elections will occur on the same date.
In addition to the 34 senators in Class III, there will be two special elections in 2010 to fill unexpired terms. One of these elections will be in Delaware to fill the last four years of the Class II seat previously held by Vice President Joe Biden.

Very dissappointed to see a copy of the D O I printed on July 4, 1776. It looked fake and had no signatures. Only someone with more $$$$$ than brains like Norman Leer would waste $8M on this piece of paper!

I believe the original JC Press article that Jabog linked in the first post explained this is one a number of copies made to be sent out to each colony's representatives BEFORE signing the real thing. Unlike the last US budget apparently 'politicians of old' read things BEFORE they signed them into law.
From the newspaper article;
“The night the Declaration was approved July 4, 1776, they had to send out copies to the 13 colonial governments so they could actually look at it and know what was in it before they signed and ratified it. So they commissioned one of the local printers in Philadelphia,” Church said. “James Dunbar made 200 copies of the Declaration and it was distributed to the 13 colonies by couriers on horseback. This is one of only 25 of those known to exist today.”

First of all his last name is Lear second of all my daughter is Lillian Graybeal and she worked very, very hard to get that copy here for everyone to see. She is only seven years old and it made her feel very bad to read what you said. If you wanna down an adults efforts thats fine, but keep your trap shut when it comes to children.
April McCaul
very proud mother of Lillian

I for one would appreciate the ability to see such a historic document in person, regardless of how it looks. Lillian is obviously very smart, well beyond her years, to have put forth such an effort to make it possible for people like Woody007 to actually see a living piece of history in person. Its a shame not everyone can appreciate it but there are people out there who do appreciate it!
