I cant believe Nascar cafe location is still empty. It is supposed to be in the heart of so called "shopping district" of JC metropolis . I agree with someone else here that Mellow Mushroom would do better on south side of town near ETSU and Earth fare. people are lot cooler on south side ....jk.

Default Backyard Burger

Backyard Burgers went belly up because they closed the whole franchise throughout the country, including in Knoxville where I first found them. Best burgers ever!!! Real shame. Used to live at the one by ETSU. That place was always packed and I was very unhappy when I read in a new article (somewhere, probably online) that the franchise closed.

A lot of people have insinuated that that building has a "curse" on it. Every single business that has been in that building has closed within a year. Someone needs to "dehex" it.

I don't think all of them closed. When I worked out in Brentwood, TN back in March, there was one within 10 ft of my office.

Anyway, I think the BYB would be a great place for mellow mushroom, but they would have to build onto it. It seems a bit small for one.

Backyard Burgers is still open on Kingston Pike near Pellissippi in Knoxville and also in Maryville.

The rumor with BYB is that it was an investment made by a dentist. He hired managers and didn't keep a close eye on the finances or operation. Someone in the store was robbing him blind. I think he realized he was in over his head and shut the business down. The location is great.

That would be pretty awesome if JC had a Mellow Mushroom. I know lots of people in JC that love the MM.

If they put one in, it should be in the main downtown area (Main/Market near State of Franklin/Downtown Loop), along Walnut Street near ETSU, or somewhere in the general vicinty of ETSU.

NASCAR Cafe would be a horrible place for MM.

Don't think Backyard Burger would work well either, to be honest.

I think their best bet would be to find some ignored piece of real estate on Walnut and refurbish it. Then again, some of those properties on Walnut are at a point where it's almost better to demolish them and build new stuff. :-/

No really, they are! South Side destroys the overdeveloped and completely lame North Side of JC. So yeah ... southsiders are cooler.

Plus, you can actually walk most of downtown. I'd like to see much more pop up in some of the empty stretches there. There are lots of great properties that are still being left to waste down there.

The BYB location is simply too small, and there isnt much way to add on to it. It is surrounded by other things and they never did have much parking to begin with...

If its a strip mall, it either would have to be the new one in north JC or in the same strip mall as Earth Fare. I just dont see any of the other strip malls being a particularly good fit.

I personally would rather see it downtown also, but I doubt it will happen for various reasons. Maybe if they could find a building in that stretch near Alley Kat on the south side...
