I just ate at a great new Mexican Restaurant in Bristol today. It's called El Agave and it's where the old La Carreta used to be. The food was delicious, it came out super fast and the people were so nice. I would definitely recommend this place check it out.

My wife and I were there just over a week ago. Yes, the food is ok. Unfortunately they do not serve margaritas yet. There's better food-still without margaritas-at either El Ranchito in Blountville or Speedway Mexican on the Parkway by the track. I love Mexican and always try to eat at as many different ones as possible.

Is El Ranchito a chain? One just opened up on the backside of Hamilton Place in Johnson City. Haven't tried it yet, but have a menu in the car. Looks like a pretty standard menu - prices not too bad.

El Ranchito is a family run business. The JC location is their second place. Does that make them a chain? Hope they don't spread themselves too thin personnel wise. They told us they would have margaritas at the JC location, but we haven't been there yet. HTH

Do you know if its run by the same people, or it is all new staff? I have not eaten there yet, but used to frequent La Carreta when it was open... La Carreta was around for a along time, even before where it was at there where the El Agave is. In the 80s-mids 90s, La Carreta used to be in a building where O'Reilly auto parts is now... they tore down the old building of course.

I talked to the owner when I was there, he said it is run by new people...new owners, new management, and new staff (but I think there is waitress that was there when it was La Carreta.)
He also said that they have started the application process for an alcohol liscense so they should have it in a few weeks or so

We have eaten at El Agave several times and the food is great. Does anyone know what happened to El Chico in JC?

Dear Friends:
Does anyone know if there are stores in Bristol that sell Mexican products--chorizo sausage, pozole, menudo, etc.?

Thanks
