Anybody familiar with what goes on around here for the 4th of July? Ended up in CT for it last year, but I'd love to go to one or two fireworks shows.

The one at Freedom Hall is good. There are TONS of people though, we've spent an hour just trying to get back onto John Exum Parkway before.

I think I've heard that Rogersville's are really good, too... not sure.

It seems like just about every city around has an all day event, whether it be a concert, vendors, kids stuff, etc then fireworks at dark. Just keep a close eye on the newspapers and the Loafer, they will have run downs of what each area has planed. I agree with Jab on all of them though, plan to be patient when it comes to the traffic after the show!

I saw Rogersville's fireworks shows in '04 and '05, and they were among the best (and longest at 40-45 minutes) I've seen anywhere. The main sponsor is a local fireworks manufacturer.

Kingsport's 4th of July display is good but the FunFest one is usually much better, IMO.

Anyone remember when they did fireworks in downtown Bristol? Those were the best. Unfortunately, there was some type of accident and now they are out near BMS.

When are they doing the Freedom Hall show this year, the 3rd or the 4th? And does anyone know of a good place to park and watch the show? Last year we parked at Sams Club and the view was OK,but a lot of the trees had grown up and blocked some of the show.

Freedom Hall was last night, (3rd) and it was spectacular! We always park on the road in front of Ramey Ford/Tennessee Motors. Fills up fast though.Perfect place because its higher elevation, and everyone has their radios blasting the synchronized music on wxbq. We were back home within 15 minutes after the show, and we live in Erwin!
Jonesboro is having their fireworks tonight and so is our little town of Unicoi. Its called FreedomFest. Starts at 5 and there will be live music, food & vendors and a very good display at 9:45 by professionals. Its also synchronized to music. Everyone come on out!
