Another Loss For Kingsport's Mall
Well I just heard today that RadioShack will be leaving Kingsport Town Center (Fort Henry Mall) and be moving to the small strip center behind the new Eastman Credit Union location directly across from Kingsport Pavilion.
The plans have the new location opening 4th quarter this year.

No. I dont have any idea how they could afford a mall's lease. Now they are trying to change their name, I dont give this company many more years....

They're trying to change their name?
If Circuit City can't exist, I can't understand Radio Shack.

I haven't been to a Radio Shack in years! They have been know for a long time to be one of the most expensive places to buy electronics for a long time now. They used to at least have items not found elsewhere, but that hasn't been so for a long time now. I agree, I don't foresee them being around much longer unless they do a whole revamp of their way of doing business.

I used to go to Radio Shack to buy needles for my record player when i was younger.... radio shack never had them in stock but could order them, however they eventually stopped that....i think i've been in a radio shack one time in the last 15 years (actually, it was about a year ago that i went in)....even then i didn't buy anything.

The Shack! I stumbled across one in Sevierville about 6 month ago when I needed some odd battery..of course it was out of stock.
The Shack is one of those places that every time you see one you say out loud to no one in particular..."They're still in business"?
Back in the day they were the "go to" place for electronics though weren't they...then you walk next door and grab a blue plate special at Woolworths for $1.99
Anybody seen a Zayre lately?

I love Radio Shack! I'm surprised they're still in business, too, but I'm glad they are. I know Wal-Mart and Best Buy carry a lot of the same things as Radio Shack, but with Radio Shack you can park at the front door and be back at your car within 5 minutes. You can't do that at Wal-Mart, and you can't do it if Radio Shack is inside a mall.
Oh, and yes I remember Zayre! There used to be a HUGE one in Nashville/Madison next to the military cemetery. Jabo, Zayre was like a Wal-Mart before there was Wal-Mart.

JMT,
Good Point! Let me also say the many retailers, Walmart especially, has been purging their store stock. They have eliminated, or are in the process of eliminating, any item that is not selling up to their standards. As a result many electronic items will not be found in the mega stores and speciality shops like The Shack will be our only alternative.
Fort Henry Mall continues to decline and most days of the week it looks like a ghost town. However, Kingsport is still allowing new businesses at the already overcrowded Stone Dr and Eastman intersection area.
