If you're asking if there are any airports here, then the answer is "yes." There's Tri-Cities Regional Airport near Blountville and a few much smaller airports scattered around.

But if you're asking if there are any airport jobs available, then the answer is "probably not." Also, the manufacturing sector here has taken a big hit during the recession.

According to an analysis by ETSU economist Steb Hipple, the Tri-Cities regional labor market posted a loss of over 10,000 jobs from the second quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.

Linked to large losses in manufacturing and construction, unemployment increased by 76 percent to 23,403 on a year-to-year basis – a jump of 10,000 in the jobless numbers. The unemployment rate for the Tri-Cities area is now 9.5 percent, compared to 5.4 percent a year ago.

I am also looking for the locations of the small airports scattered around. I want to establish a location for a friend that designs and flys small air crafts. This will also help us establish a sustainable community in Roane County.
