Red face Info on Tri Cities area

What a great site. It has been so interesting reading everyone's experiences. My family is considering a move from Florida to Tennessee as well. We have been really trying to research as much as we can online but will be visiting this month as well to do some exploring.

Of course, as parents, the local school system is very important -academically as well as socially. I've heard Science Hill is a great school but also a bit over crowded. University School has a great reputation as well but I haven't heard to much about many of the others. My children are all in advanced and gifted classes so I don't know if that makes a difference or if there are some schools that have better programs than others?

We are still looking at a broad area of the tricities region. Sites of interest include Jonesborough, Johnson City, Bristol (the Tenn. side) and Elizabethton. We hope to narrow down once we visit the area and get a better feel for what we are looking for.

I guess, ultimatly we'd like to have a bit of land for horses, with pretty views, family friendly neighborhood, etc. Please let me know if you have any advice for folks that are visiting the area. We are so excited to leave this hot Florida summer and enjoy being outside!!

The Tri-Cities is a wonderful area. It has everything you need. If you would like land for horses, look into rural Washington County, TN. It is all near Johnson City, Jonesborough, and Greeneville. If not that area try the Sulphur Springs or Fall Branch area. There is plenty of land out there. Sullivan County is mostly city but there is some good land in between Kingsport and Bristol.
