JC - Gray Fossil Site to Expand with "Annex"

The fossil museum at Gray is expanding.
As of Aug. 31, the General Shale Brick and East Tennessee State University Natural History Museum and Visitors Center at the Gray Fossil Site had been opened to the public for two years. In that time more than 160,000 visitors have seen the ongoing dig for ancient creatures at the museum’s active fossil site, watched educational material in the visitor center and seen numerous traveling exhibits.
Museum Director Jeanne Zavada said the museum’s success has prompted her to request a new educational annex be constructed adjacent to the current complex. It will provide sorely needed classroom space for the tens of thousands of visitors each year who become fascinated at the site, Zavada said.
